Town/Gown Relationships Report
- A task force has released its proposal that suggests ways
to improve relationships between the City of Florence and
the University of North Alabama (UNA). A few of the top
issues cited by the report are developing a stronger
economic base for graduates to find jobs and looking for
opportunities to improve zoning regulations that would allow
for more student-oriented businesses.
River Heritage Park
The
park is open year around, the fountain opens in late
May. The times of the fountain is from 11:00-9:20.
There is a light/water show every night that has
music that has been recorded in the Shoals, hits
such as: “When A Man Loves A Woman”, “Sweet Home
Alabama”, and many more hits from local and famed
musicians. The show is a 45 minute show that begins
every night at or around 8:35 p.m. It is a fun and
exciting park for all ages.
Florence Sportsplex
– The grand opening of the Florence Sportsplex took place on
Saturday, April 4, 2009. The park includes five
baseball fields, 4 softball fields, 6 soccer fields and
concessions at all ball fields. For more information,
